My Go to Easy-Peasy Morning Routine

on February 24, 2018

It’s either an alarm clock from the iphone, or the shouts of my toddlers, but either way I wake up begrudgingly and wanting that 10 minute snooze button on more time. Tonight, I am going to bed earlier I tell myself. Yup, no Bachelor tonight, no studying, it’s all about sleep. Spoiler alert: Night Katie never does listen to Morning Katie.

First things, first, I take care of my kiddos. Get them up and going for the day, then it’s on to me. Don’t underestimate that last sentence. It is such a simple statement, for such a painful routine…. “No, you’re Minnie dresses are all in the dirty clothes, please stop crying, don’t hit your sister”. Moving on, so for my skin, I use Rodan + Fields’ Redefine regimen. Full disclosure: I am a consultant for them. First, I start with the mask/cleanser, then move to the toner, and then the moisturizer. Moisturizer is equipped with SPF to get me through the day. Lastly, I add the bright eye complex to help me with those black circles and puffy eyes. I am really loving the way my skin is looking and feeling these days, and I am not just saying it. I was always horrible with consistency with skincare, but love the results and the way my skin is feeling. Also let’s be honest, I don’t have the skin of a 25 year old, I have to start working on those wrinkles that are creeping up on me.

Next, I move on to makeup. Now between the kids, the making of the coffee and letting the dog go pee for the 100th time, I need something quick and easy. First I start with a light foundation. I love this Clinique foundation (see below) or this awesome BB creme by Erborian. With the Clinque foundation I use a beauty blender to apply it.

Next, I move on to the under eye area with a quick swipe of prep and prime by MAC and dab that in with the opposite side of the beauty blender. Now it’s a quick swipe of bronzer. Currently, my favorite is this bronzer exclusive to Sephora, or my favorite drug store option here.

Somedays I do blush, somedays I don’t. If I do, I like to use the Mac blushes. They have pretty good staying power and have a great range of colors.

Next I do a quick highlight. All the colors on here are really great and they don’t have any patchy glitter to them. So good news, you won’t look like you came back from the 90s. Then again, that is coming back, right?

Next, I curl my lashes and throw on a coat of mascara and head for the door. If I am feeling especially fancy, I may do my brows.

All in all, this only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish with zero interruptions. ha.ha.
